It has surprised me (Ivan, not so much) that some people respond to our story and health plan with extreme suspicion about our motives for sharing the details of how Ivan healed from cancer naturally with food, nutrition and healthy living. Recently I heard from a friend here in Europe on Facebook who told me that when she shared the Misner Plan website with a friend of hers, who happens to also be a nutritionist, the response she got back was, “Well, what’s in it for them?”
What’s in it for us? Really?
First of all, Ivan’s continued health is in it for us. Being in remission from prostate cancer is pretty huge. And not having been sick one day from chemotherapy or suffering from any of the scary side effects from prostate surgery or radiation is also just wonderful, to say the least. In addition, continuing to be able to hear well without needing to use my hearing aids has been in it for me. Traveling without gaining an ounce on the scale when we return home is in it for both of us, which is such a relief.
I know that is not primarily what she is asking, though. She wants to know, “How are you profiting from your experience at my expense?” Or to put it more bluntly, “Have you found a way to monetize this experience somehow? What are you selling?”
We want to be perfectly clear with you and anyone who asks you what’s in it for the Misners: We are not selling anything at all. We are not making a penny off this experience, because that is not where the value comes for us. Yes, we have written a book. Yes, the book can be purchased at Amazon. No, we don’t make any of that money. We are raising money for nutritional medical research. When you purchase our book, 100% of our royalties goes to non-profit research.
We do recommend some specific products, but we do not sell them, nor are we “affiliates” with any of the doctors who have formulated the supplements Ivan recommends.
For any of you who follow our blog who are also members of our business referral organization, BNI, you know that the BNI philosophy is Givers Gain®. This is the BNI philosophy because it was our personal philosophy before BNI was ever created.
With that in mind, here is what is mostly in it for us: improved health, vitality and long life for YOU. Ivan and I honestly believe that there isn’t anyone who won’t feel better, be healthier and live longer by adopting a lot of the Misner Plan. Eating more fresh organic vegetables, fruits and healthy fats, and less animal proteins can have a profound impact on your health. And that is the biggest part of what’s in it for us.
We love you! We want you to do well and to be well. Sharing something so simple and basic while yet so profound and powerful, like the Misner Plan, gives depth of meaning to Ivan’s experience with cancer. It has already helped many others around us – family, colleagues and others who have only just now met us after hearing about our experience.
That’s all that is in it for us.
