Your Body’s Many Cries for Water

Your Body’s Many Cries for Water helped me and Ivan understand WHY it is so important for our health that we are well hydrated. We often teach in BNI that it is hard to value a teaching when all we teach is the how…you have to know the why, as well. This is very true about drinking water. A real eye opener.
Wheat Belly
When Hazel Walker recommended this book to me, I was like, “Yeah, right. Here’s another cry for the gluten-free lifestyle.” I was under the impression that if you did not have Celiac Disease, you did not have to eliminate or reduce the gluten in your diet. What I didn’t know was literally making me sick! I have since learned that gluten is the biggest trigger for migraine headaches for me. This book will give you the motivation you need to eliminate (or greatly reduce) gluten for good.

The China Study

This is the book Forks Over Knives was centered on. Very interesting and very informative about the connection between meat consumption and cancer and other maladies. This is a book which really helped us move into a more plant-based eating protocol.
Dr. Grundy’s Diet Evolution
Dr. Grundy’s clear explanation about our genes and why we store fat and why we lose fat is very powerful. His book really helps us find the motivation to stick with the Misner Plan.

The Fat Flush Plan

When I first read this book a number of years ago, I was thrilled to find another nutritionist who understood what I had come to know. Her ability to clearly explain why food is the answer to fat burning is really amazing.
Love, Medicine and Miracles
We wish we had learned of this one at the very beginning of our journey, but now we have read it and let it inform everything we do from here on. You will be amazed, encouraged and enlightened by this wonderful read.

Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill

This book is a bit technical in parts, but it teaches such necessary information that I did not want to pass it up. This is really the Bible of fats, the good ones and the bad ones. I highly recommend it! Ivan was able to understand how it was healthy to use so much oil (the right kind and the right way) and to eat so many avocados. Really a good book!
The pH Miracle
Have you ever wondered what is up with all the buzz about having an alkaline diet? Dr. Young unpacks this and makes it really clear.

Why We Believe What We Believe

When we began to study how important what we believe is as it relates to the healing process, Dr. Newberg’s book was a great addition to our library.
The Blood Sugar Solution
Dr. Mark Hyman raises a loud, strong voice as a proponent of eating in a way which best nourishes our bodies. This is a really great read!

Change Your Brain, Change Your Life

This is the book I read which led me further on the sleuthing path toward confirmation of our son’s reaction to Red Dye #40.
Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers
Another book we wish we had read at the beginning of our journey. This book is very fair, informative and eye-opening. It equipped us with knowledge which brought power!

BabyCakes

I Am Grateful
Another very fun, very yummy read. This one will be crumb-riddled and spotted with drips of coconut oil and almond milk before very long!
