Ivan and I are very excited about the upcoming 90-day challenge, starting December 1. In this post I will address WHY we are crazy enough to start a health challenge on December 1, JUST before the holidays – and why you’re crazy if you don’t jump in now! I will also be talking about how to use the website to support your challenge and how to customize your 90 days to fit both your health conditions and your lifestyle.
First of all, why on earth would we dare to start a health challenge going in to the most difficult holidays through which to resist goodies, home-baked treats and other decadent sweets, since they are so much a part of the holiday cheer? Here are our thoughts: WHY NOT?! We all dread the weight we know we are bound to put on during the holidays. There are not too many people I know who think, “Whoo hoo! There will be cheesecake, fruitcake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, fudge, apple pie, pumpkin pie, peppermint bark, and hot chocolate at this party. I wonder if they will have marshmallows, too?!” I mean, not unless we are about 14 years old, right?!
What Ivan and I experienced during the first two weeks of the Misner Plan was that our taste buds literally were reset to enjoy veggies and whole grains — we realized that the processed foods we were used to eating really did not taste all that good and we could easily do without them. So, if you really do want to go through the holidays in such a way that you end up in a better place with your health than where you were before, the Misner Plan 90-Day Challenge is for you. Let’s start the New Year right!
Another thing is that you will end up feeling and looking so good in just two weeks, that it will be easy for you to bypass the foods which are not part of the Misner Plan Challenge. The average number of pounds shed during Phase 1 of the Misner Plan is 18 pounds!! Yes, 18 pounds — people are shedding stored water weight, accumulated solid waste, as well as creating a fat-processing machine out of their livers. Your momentum will carry you through the holidays and into the New Year with resolve you never thought you could muster up.
So, how do you use the website to support your 90-day challenge, you ask? Once you click on Take the Challenge and register as a member of the Misner Plan site, you will have access to the member content. Under the 90-Day Challenge tab, you will find the three phases described and the food lists for each phase. You also have access to member forums and discussion groups where you can ask specific questions, support each other and share recipes. Remember that it is free to join the Misner Plan Challenge and the suggested donation to the Misner Foundation is at your discretion. We are raising money for nutritional medical research and every little bit will help, but you may join without donating. The donation page is not linked to the Misner Plan site. We do appreciate your support, though, in making sure more and more people have access to nutritional medicine in their quest for health.
As you peruse the three phases, think about where your health is right now and where you want it to be. Consult with your doctor before starting Phase 1 – the 8-day cleanse – to be sure that there is not some reason why you personally should not do a fairly aggressive detox. It may be best for you to detox more slowly and Phase 2 will help you do that. If you are traveling a lot leading up to the holidays, you may wish to start in Phase 2, as well. Then again, it may work best for you to begin the 90-day challenge in Phase 3 and then start Phase 1 during vacation time after the holidays. It’s entirely up to you. We found it was most effective to start right away with Phase 1, then move into Phase 2 until we felt our health was adequately shifted to the positive side, before moving into Phase 3. Once it’s up to you!
